IT services for accounting
firms in Reunion Island

Accountancy firms, statutory auditors and management centres have business-software, FEC-retention and tax-season constraints. This page scopes those needs without asserting a client reference.

In brief

Accounting firms hold sensitive financial, tax and payroll data. FEC retention, electronic invoicing, ransomware, phishing and account compromise require documented responsibilities and controls.

01 — Sector expertise

Why does your accounting firm need a specialist IT provider?

An accounting firm is not a standard office. You manage the financial, tax and payroll data of dozens — sometimes hundreds — of clients. Sage, Cegid and QuadraExpert run in client/server architecture on critical databases. A failure on 15 April means the production of tax returns comes to a dead stop.

We see the same scenario repeatedly: a generalist technician installs an antivirus, makes a backup to an external hard drive and leaves satisfied. But they do not know that the FEC must be retained for 10 years in a standardised format. Nor that Sage requires a regulatory update before each payroll deadline. A poorly planned Windows update can lock access to Cegid databases for several hours — right in the middle of year-end close.

"8 in 10 cyberattacks against accounting firms fall into three categories: ransomware, phishing and account compromise. Financial data is the most lucrative target after health data."— Cegid, Accounting firm security report 2025

60% of small businesses that suffer a cyberattack close within 6 months (Senate report). For an accounting firm, the loss of client data is not just a technical incident: it triggers a professional body investigation, a mandatory CNIL notification, and the task of rebuilding client trust. The Order of Chartered Accountants has joined the GIP Cybermalveillance programme to strengthen cybersecurity across the profession.

02 — Legal obligations

What FEC retention and compliance obligations apply to accounting firms?

10-Year Retention

Accounting records (ledgers, journals, supporting documents, FEC) must be retained for 10 years from the end of the financial year. A legal obligation: Article L123-22 of the Commercial Code. Applies to digital backups.

Article L123-22 of the French Commercial Code

FEC — Accounting Entries File

The FEC must be provided to the tax authority upon request, in a standardised format. The mandating accountant assumes responsibility for retaining it for 10 years. Loss of the FEC represents a major risk during a tax audit.

Article L47 A of the Tax Procedures Book

Electronic Invoicing

Progressive obligation from 2024 for large companies, extended to all businesses by 2026. Accounting firms manage their clients' invoicing flows — their IT infrastructure must support PDPs (Partner Dematerialisation Platforms).

Finance Act 2024, Article 26
03 — Accounting software

Which accounting software does a specialist IT provider support?

Every firm has its own ecosystem. Some have been on Sage for 15 years, others have migrated to Cegid Expert, others use QuadraExpert with Silae for payroll. We know these architectures. Installation, regulatory updates (contribution rates, tax brackets, DSN, collective agreements), backup, support — everything is covered.

04 — Payroll software

Payroll & HR — Sage Paie, Cegid, Silae

Payroll is a domain where a technical error can have immediate consequences. Supported software, update responsibilities, monitoring and escalation conditions must be defined in the contract; uninterrupted operation is not guaranteed outside that scope.

Sage Paie

The most widely deployed payroll solution in France. Payslip management, DSN (social data reporting), social charges. Critical regulatory updates required with each change to collective agreements or the minimum wage.

Cegid HR Ultimate / Paye

Integrated cloud HR and payroll suite. Payslip dematerialisation, employee portal, leave management. Often paired with Cegid Expert for accounting production.

Silae

100% cloud solution highly regarded by firms for its reliable DSN handling. Modern interface, automatic updates, open API. Strong adoption among firms modernising their systems.

ADP / PayFit

Payroll solutions whose vendor support, technical responsibilities and network integration must be clarified before intervention.

06 — Reunion Island

Accounting firm IT in Reunion Island — local specificities

Reunion Island has more than 200 chartered accountancy firms and approved management centres. The sector is dense. IT providers who truly know Sage client/server or FEC obligations are rare. Most firms end up relying on an occasional technician — competent on workstations, but not on the profession-specific constraints.

We are based in Saint-Paul. That means same-day on-site intervention and knowledge of island-specific constraints — latency to Cegid cloud servers in metropolitan France, dependence on undersea cables, need for a local backup that takes over when the connection drops. This is not the same as managed IT delivered from Paris.

Dematerialisation, electronic invoicing and remote access should be planned with the firm, software vendors and the selected provider.

08 — Frequently asked questions

FAQ — Accounting firm IT services

Why choose a specialist accounting IT provider rather than a generalist?

An accounting firm uses complex business software (Sage, Cegid, QuadraExpert) with frequent regulatory updates (DSN, contribution rates, collective agreements). A specialist provider knows this software, its client/server architectures, and the legal retention requirements. A generalist risks misconfiguring the FEC backups or mishandling a critical Sage update during the tax season.

How do you protect client data during the tax season?

Tax season can increase the criticality of applications and deadlines. Backup frequency, monitoring coverage, RPO/RTO objectives, update checks and recovery tests must be sized and written into the contract.

Do my backups comply with the 10-year retention obligation?

With ECLAUD IT, your backups are encrypted, stored on servers in France, and retained according to a schedule compliant with Article L123-22 of the Commercial Code (10 years). We archive each year's FEC separately and test restoration quarterly. A compliance report is provided for your professional body obligations.

What happens if my Sage server fails during the year-end close?

Recovery depends on the documented architecture, backup state, dependencies and test evidence. Any standby system, on-call coverage, priority handling and RTO objective must be sized, tested and included in the contract.

What does managed IT cost for an accounting firm?

Price depends on workstations, sites, business software, backup, support hours, monitoring and on-site conditions. The proposal lists scope, setup costs, recurring charges and exclusions. Any tax treatment should be checked with your adviser.

Does ECLAUD IT handle mandatory electronic invoicing?

Platform selection, inbound and outbound flows, and integration with business software must be scoped with the firm, software vendors and the selected providers.

Does ECLAUD IT serve accounting firms in Reunion Island?

ECLAUD IT is based in Saint-Paul. The supported service area, remote-support hours, on-site conditions and response objectives are confirmed in the proposal and contract. No client count is claimed without verifiable references.
